Equalization is a process carried out annually by municipalities and the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration (NHDRA) to ensure common property tax burdens are apportioned fairly and equitably among taxpayers.
Through the equalization and ratio study processes, the total equalized valuation of each municipality is determined and used to apportion county taxes, cooperative school taxes, if applicable, and the state education property tax.
Go to the NHDRA for more information regarding equalization ratios.
