GRENIER AIR FIELD

                The Manchester Airport was establishedi in 1936, and commercial flights served the local area. By 1937 a classic art deco terminal would be built that would become the Aviation Museum ov NH.

                At the onset of WWII in 1940, the airport grew to become a new U.S. Air Base, Grenier Airfield. 118 buildings and other facilities appeared in 90 days. Between 1941 and the war's end, the base housed the 45th Bomdardment Group,and served as a training/staging area for overseas deployment, and housed the North Atlantic Wing of the Army's air transport command overseeing military transport to Europe. The air base remained through the Korean War. In early 1950s, the NH National Guard located here.
